Wang Juanle's Research Group Went To Russia for The Special Exchange Program Of The Chinese Academy of Sciences

   During May 25-June 2, 2019, professor Wang Juanle and his research group in the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), went to the Russian Far East for the Special Exchange Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, "key technology research and development of China, Russia and in-between tourism decision support systems considering climate risks". 

 

   The joint research group, composed by IGSNRR of CAS, the Institute of Comprehensive Analysis of Regional Issues and the Pacific Geographical Institute of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, conducted academic discussions and field trips in the Russian Far East. Prof. Wang's group visited the Russian Pacific institute of oceanography, the Pacific Geographical Institute, the WWF Amur Branch of  Russian Far East and the Russian Far Eastern Federal University, and conducted field research in a Russian Marine nature reserve. 

 

   During the exchange with the Russian Pacific institute of oceanography, director Vyacheslav B. Lobanov, introduced their basis status in Marine ecological protection, Marine pollution and disaster prevention. Moreover, Fishchenko Vitalii Konstantinovich, director of the Marine information analysis laboratory, introduced their underwater photography monitoring data collection system and the latest achievements of, for example, acquiring the sea wave frequency and related information in the target sea area with videos and pictures. The two sides discussed the utilization of big video data. 

 

   During the exchange with the Pacific Geographical Institute and the Russian Far Eastern Federal University, professor Wang gave two academic reports, i.e., "

UNESCO-IKCEST: missions and progress of the knowledge service system of disaster prevention and reduction" and "resources and environment research on the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor". The two sides discussed the Russian Far Eastern climate impact on the tourism and disasters. Moreover, Ms. Khristoforova Nadezhda Konstantinovna, professor of the Russian Far Eastern Federal University who was awarded the 2018 Russian national prize, hosted a seminar with the group. 

 

   Wang's group also conducted field investigation in a Russian Marine nature reserve and in-depth research on the data collection and management system of Cape Schultz Marine ecological protection station with the great support of the Pacific institute of oceanography of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 

 

   During the investigation, the research group collected basic data of regional climate and disasters in need and reached a consensus on jointly developing the data sharing and collaborative innovation platform for the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, which laid a good foundation for the sustainable cooperation of the project.
