Personal profile:
Yang Yaping, senior engineer of the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), director of the National Earth System Science Data Center, deputy director of Research Laboratory of Earth Data Science and Sharing of IGSNRR, director of the Earth System Science Data Center of CAS, person in charge of the Geography Resources and Ecology Knowledge Service System of China Knowledge Center for Engineering Sciences and Technology, person in charge of the Data Collection and Delivery Management Center for the National Key Basic Research and Development Plan (973 Projects) in the field of resources and environment and for the National Science and Technology Basic Resources Investigation Projects. Yang has been engaged in the research and practice of earth data science and informatization in scientific researches for a long time.
As an expert in the field of scientific data sharing, Yang has successively participated in the planning of the National Scientific Data Sharing Project, the data collection and delivery planning of 973 projects in the the field of resources and environment, the planning of the National Science and Technology Basic Resources Investigation Projects, the formulation of the Measures for the Management of National Scientific Data. She also participated in the special informatization projects of CAS in periods of the Tenth Five-Year Plan, the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, the Twelfth Five-Year Plan, and the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan. She once led the construction of the Thematic Database of Natural Resources and Human-Earth System. As the person in charge of a number of major national research projects, Yang is organizing and implementing the collection, management and open sharing of data resources generated by national funds. Besides, she has conducted many academic exchange visits and field trips abroad.
