报告人简介：

Alfred Stein教授是空间统计与图像分析的教授和博士生导师，也是荷兰统计与运营协会和荷兰皇家数学学会的成员。Stein教授的研究工作主要集中在时空数据的统计分析，包括时空最优采样、遥感影像分析和时空统计。应用领域是农业、自然植被、健康、城市和使用、沿海系统、灾害和野生动植物建模的统计方面。

Stein教授创办并主编了《Spatial Statistics》期刊，是时空统计学领域的全球领导者，收录了大量时空统计学领域的高质量学术论文。他还是《Environmental and Ecological Statistics》杂志创始编委，《Soil and Tillage Research》杂志副主编，《Statistica Neerlandica》、《Geoderma》、《International Journal of Applied Geoinformation and Earth》原主编、《Journal of Agricultural, Biological and Environmental Statistics》原副主编以及多篇学术期刊编委。Stein教授在时空统计、遥感影像分析、空间不确定性分析与建模等相关领域发表论文300余篇。

报告摘要：

Many of us are facing the challenge of publishing in international journals. These are scientific journals of a large variety in focus, quality and reputation. It is therefore important to do scientific publishing most efficiently. In order to do so we have to know what happens behind the screens, i.e. how the editor-in-chief of a journal receives the manuscript, the role of the reviewers, the role of the scientist to deal with the submission system and the reviewer comments.

The aim of this presentation therefore is to address the publishing process of scientific manuscripts. As the former editor in chief of the International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation and of Spatial Statistics, I will use my experience to address the publishing process and how to make successful use of it. Typical issues are the publishing process itself, the structure of scientific manuscripts, how to come from research to its publication, the pitfalls and challenges. Issues of Open Science and the use of AI in publishing will be addressed.
